Demographics - Haapsalu

The town of Haapsalu is often spoken of as the 'Venice of the North'.
Made of many islets the sea meanders through the city.
Like most of Estonia the town is completely flat, meaning that flooding is a great problem for the town.

With only two sandy beaches, many reeds instead edge the sea. The sea bed is also very significant, containing a huge reserve of curatorial mud.

Near to the South West of Haapsalu are the islands of Vormsi, Hiiumaa, and Saaremaa. Inbetween the town and Islands are forested areas
